That's right, you read that correctly. The Clash of the Titans is BACK!!
For those of you who don't know, the Clash of the Titans event was one of the most well known Freestyle Martial Arts events in the country for over 20 years. For 15 of those years, our Sifu, Master Curtis Page (The Axe), was part of the legendary British Lau Gar squad, along side Kevin Brewerton (The Jedi) and Nathan Lewis (Megatron), helping them to victory after victory at the Clash of the Titans event.
Among the usual suspects for the team event (including the latest generation of the British Lau Gar Squad and the TAGB Tae Kwan Do squad) will be our very own squad from the GB Elite.

More details will be coming soon, but there are rumours that Master Page himself is back in training for the event. If that's true, then this will be an unmissable event!

Do us proud and bring home some more trophies!!

Next month, the Surbiton Academy will be hosting a Broadsword Seminar, in partnership with the Cobham Academy.
The seminar will cover all of the broadsword basics, from stances to cuts and thrusts, as well as block and counter flow drills and a basic form. Towards the end of the seminar, we will also go through a few fundamental Wu Shu tricks and some more advanced techniques and spins with the sword itself.
The Chinese broadsword (dao or daoshu) was a popular infantry weapon and is most often associated with the monks of Shao Lin (as opposed to the monks and nuns of Wu Dan, who are legendary straightsword practitioners). The single edged, curved blade is used primarily for cuts and chops, although most broadsword styles also include thrusts. The broadsword style relies heavily on circular motions, passing the blade around the body in order to defend attacks from any angle and to counter with dazzling speed.
The seminar will cost £20 (or £10 each if you bring a friend), which includes the cost of a wooden broadsword. Don?t forget to quote your Supporters Club membership number to receive your additional discount!
There are only 10 spaces available per academy for the seminar, so
please speak to an Instructor as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
